Other Information

  1. Departmental library: The departmental has a small Library that can accommodate 15 students at a time. It has both physical and virtual means of accessing books and other learning materials. Direct access to codes to subscribed repositories by the University are also made available to students.
  2. Student Work: These are assignments, classwork, Engineering workshop activities, Laboratory practicals, report writing and presentations, projects and study visits to relevant industries/locations.
  3. Entrepreneurship and innovations: the department has a strong link to the Technical and Entreprenuership Centre (TEC) of the University. This centre exposes students to various practical and innovative entrepreneurship skills. The two (2) pilot plants located within the department are equipped with some facilities that are used in the training of our students to further improve their entrepreneur skills and practical experiences.
  4. Students’ Research: Students of the department conduct research in the following areas: machine development (design, fabrication and testing), food products development, analysis of food processing, packaging and storage processes and systems. They are also thoroughly exposed to the operation and maintenance of industrial and laboratory equipment.
  5. Awards
  • 2021 Regional Winner of the North Central Committee of Deans of Engineering and Technology of Nigerian Universities (CODET) Competition.
  • Winner of the maiden edition of NUESA Innovate CAD Competition of year 2023.
  • First Runner-Up of 2024 edition of NUESA Innovate CAD Competition.

National Association of Food Engineering Students (NAFES), University of Ilorin Chapter. NAFES secretariat is located within the block of the Department of Food Engineering, University of Ilorin, Ilorin.
